Here’s the thing: I love doing nothing. All of my favorite beauty rituals—hair masks, body oils, you name it—require me to do nothing except sit (and stand still), soaking up all those good old nutrients my skin and hair love. I’m not big on high maintenance self-care, as evidenced by the fact that I haven’t been in for a manicure in just about six months.

The latest beauty must-have to make its way into my routine is the ultimate in low-effort beauty: Kérastase 8H Magic Night Hair Serum. When the word “magic” is right in the name, you know you’re in for a treat—and so was my dark brown hair when I tried it. Read more about my experience trying (and loving) the hair serum below.

Why Try Kérastase 8H Magic Night Hair Serum

Imagine a hair product that's literally designed to fix all your problems while you sleep. OK, so maybe 8H Magic Night Hair Serum can’t grant you an extra hour of sleep or do your taxes, but it can certainly refresh your hair in a noticeable way. I’ve used the serum (a gift from the brand) on and off for more than a month, and let me tell you: There’s a noticeable difference after the nights I was too lazy to apply it. Love doing nothing, remember?

If you, like me, love a low low maintenance beauty lifestyle, you’re the ideal candidate for 8H Magic Night Hair Serum. It’s designed to be applied to your hair directly before bed so that your strands have eight (uh, six to seven) hours soak in the formula, which helps restore nutrients and hydration to tired hair. Although I’m typically very gentle with my natural waves, I saw soft, shiny-looking hair in the morning without any stickiness or goopy feeling—something that hasn’t been the case with heavier sleeping masks I’ve tried in the past.

How To Use Kérastase 8H Magic Night Hair Serum

To put Kérastase 8H Magic Night Hair Serum to work on your own head of hair, just apply a pump of the serum to your hands, then distribute it on your damp or dry lengths and ends. Massage the product in...and that’s the most work you’ll do all night! The serum’s floral-influenced scent constantly evolves throughout the night, shifting from relaxing floral notes to energetic scents. A beauty product that also works as an alarm clock for your nose? Yeees, please.

Here’s the best part for us low-key beauty girls: in the morning, there’s no rinsing necessary. Just style your hair and go about your day as usual. I’ve been really impressed by the way this serum fits right into my normal beauty routine. There’s no crinkly, oversized sheet mask or a mysterious three-step process—just a simple application right before I drift off to sleep. In the morning, I wake up with hair that feels nourished as well as totally detangled and easy to style.

Thinking about ways to cut down the time you spend styling or—gasp!—take a laid back approach to your beauty routine? Look no further than Kérastase 8H Magic Night Hair Serum. It’s snooze button approved!
