Everybody loves a success story and when it comes to Chemistry Hair Salon, no one’s more qualified to tell it than stylist and co-owner Hallie Breithaupt. After dabbling in amateur styling, Breithaupt landed in Chemistry’s first-ever associate and spent the next few years rising through the ranks. Today, she's one of three owners and a top-level stylist—and she’s quick to explain why a salon that fosters growth and community is one that does the best hairstyling and color.

The Brand
Founder Bryan Sullivan started Chemistry Hair Salon in 2009 with a very straightforward goal: Starting a salon without drama. No in-fighting, no weird gossip, just great hair and a place where clients can relax.
“He just didn't like the reputation that the salons get about being gossipy and all that. So he wanted to create a wholesome, fun, laid back atmosphere,” Breithaupt explains. “I hear from all of our guests...they are so happy to sit in a chair and see stylists who are not talking about each other. It's like they can tell we all get along—and there's 31 of us, so that's a big deal.”
At Chemistry Hair Salon’s first location in Shreveport and second in Bossier City, relaxation is the goal.
The Location
When Breithaupt sums up her goals for every customer’s experience, it comes down to ease and modernity. That starts with the salon’s original space, which has an industrial feel that’s not always expected in Shreveport.
“It's very inviting but exciting at the same time,” Breithaupt says. “We have a loft upstairs so you walk in and you see the salon floor, but then you can look up and you see more movement.”
If you’re looking for the big-city vibe of a place like Dallas, you’ll find it at Chemistry Hair Salon—Breithaupt calls it “urban energy.” The salon is bustling and vibrant, but never cramped or crowded, which leads to the business’s above-average 75 percent rate of rebooking by customers.
The Products
The owners of Chemistry Hair Salon have backgrounds three of the most revered brand names in the hair care industry: Breithaupt is a Pureology ambassador and Aubrey Clark is a Redken ambassador, so the salon carries some of both! In the salon’s original Shreveport location, the retail area is painted an unmissable magenta to keep shoppers inspired and ready to try new formulas.
The Services
At Chemistry Hair Salon, women's cuts start at $32, men's at $24, and cuts for kids at $19—but a bang trim starts at just $11! If color is more your thing, it starts at $41, while full balayage starts at $117 and full foil highlights start at $66.
The salon also offers keratin straightening (starting at $291), perms (starting at $103), and conditioning treatments like Redken Chemistry and Pureology PureHealth for $15. You don’t always have the time for a full cut and color, which is why Chemistry Hair Salon offers a $20 blow-dry bar on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
If you’re on the hunt for a fantasy color or platinum blonde, make sure to book time at Chemistry, which is fast becoming known as the area’s destination for gorgeous, of-the-moment color.
