If you’re trying to find the perfect haircut, look no further than Bertram K., Austrian L’Oréal Professionnel brand ambassador, and Massato, Parisian L’Oréal Professionnel and Shu Uemura brand ambassador. They’re here to help.
“The [shape] of the face has an impact on your look,” Massato says. “You have to think about the desired effect when choosing a haircut.”

If you have a smaller head shape, long layers lengthen the face and create proportion.
“Everything about the haircut should work towards achieving an oval face shape,” Bertram K. explains.
Massato also loves that “a long cut generally gives a more chic and classic look to the face.” Add a side fringe to balance out the face even more.
For a square face shape, “the aim is to soften the jaw,” Massato says.
When going for a cut with a defined shape like an angular blunt cut, “avoid a short cut above the jawbone.” Shorter cuts on square faces can also benefit from added volume, but make sure your stylist uses the graduation technique to do so.
“Graduation adds volume, whereas layers diminish it,” Bertram K. explains.
Massato finds that clients seeking trendy cuts “also want to feel [like] themselves.”
“As professionals, we try to adapt fashion to everyone,” Massato says. Have your hairdresser add a personal touch, like an asymmetrical fringe!
We love how versatile a choppy long bob is for styling. Sculpt textured, shaggy waves using L’Oréal Professionnel’s Tecni.Art Beach Waves spray or try a messy blowout.
