Fringe Trends: 3 Stylish Ways To Wear Your Microbangs
28 March 2018
If you want to change up your hairstyle or add more edge to your fringe, it’s time to consider the microbangs trend. Not sure if microbangs will work with your features? We spoke with Fabiola Sanchez, Mexican Redken brand ambassador, to get her take on the look.
“The face shapes that work well with micro bangs are inverted triangle, oblong and round,” Sanchez says.
Not sure which category you fall into? visit your stylist to help you identify your face shape. Scroll through to find out Sanchez’s top three favorite ways to style a short fringe!
Stay classic with a blunt cut fringe.
Ask your hairdresser to cut one length straight across for a bold yet timeless look. Experts recommend keeping your blunt cut longer if you want to style your microbangs into different looks.
“Keep them controlled and well-combed with good products,” Sanchez advises. “Most importantly, look into products with heat protection if you regularly use a blow dryer or flat iron for styling.”
Redken’s Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer Spray can be your ally in all things heat styling.
Try a micro micro fringe.
Go extra short with your microbangs! Remember: Just because your bangs are cropped doesn’t mean you can ignore them entirely.
“[Shorter lengths] do not require so much maintenance, but they do require care to make them look healthy,” Sanchez notes. To keep yours looking smooth against humidity, experts recommend the Redken Frizz Dismiss Smooth Force Lotion Spray. Micro-micro lengths really shine when left natural for windswept movement.
Get creative with an asymmetrical fringe.
Our trend watch says slanted fringes are in. Your stylist can help you create your own punk rock chic look by working in some angular, asymmetrical cuts into your microbangs.
“With the help of a styling product, you can shape [the microbangs] into the effect that you’re looking for, whether firm or soft,” explains Sanchez. For a piecey look that still has natural movement, try Redken’s Wind Blown 05 Dry Finishing Spray.
