As a Hair.com editor (and the only salon blonde on the team), you can imagine that I have tons of blondifying hair care formulas sent to my desk weekly. I’ve tested out my fair share of purple product wins (and maybe a few misses), which means I know a thing or two about purple-tinted products.
No color-depositing system has made my ash blonde hair look brighter and feel stronger....that is, until I found out about the Redken Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask. I was eager to get my hands on Redken’s newest addition to its Color Extend Blondage line compliments of the brand for my review—and, let me tell you, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill purple hair mask.

Why Use The Redken Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask
Here’s the deal: I’m a 10-year salon blonde veteran and I’ve been on a steady twice-a-week purple shampoo routine for years now. I’m typically a bit skeptical about committing to new hair products. I’m a busy girl, so when the opportunity arises to add another step to my routine, I tend to skip out on it. Even though color-depositing shampoo has been a total lifesaver in my fight against brass, I’ve recently found myself searching for even more toning power. So when I caught wind of Redken’s Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask, I was eager to put the brand’s most toning care formula to date to the test.
The ultra-pigmented purple hair mask fights brass to keep your blonde cool, bright, and healthy. When I first saw the bottle, one of the things I immediately fell in love with was the packaging. Like the entire Color Extend Blondage line, this product comes in a sleek bottle with a purple ombre design. I instantly wanted to line it up next to my other aesthetically-pleasing beauty products.
Now, let’s talk about the formula. After a few weeks of using the Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask once a week, I can easily say I noticed a major difference in the feel and particularly the look of my blonde hair. My strands were soft, bright, shiny. Best of all, though, the brassiness that had been peeking through after not seeing my colorist for a little over a month was nearly gone.
How To Use The Redken Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask
On a typical week, I usually alternate between the Redken Color Extend Magnetics system and the Redken Color Extend Magnetics Blondage system to wash my hair. I don’t want to overload my strands with color-depositing products so on the days I use the Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask, I opt for the Color Extend Magnetics Shampoo and Conditioner.
Once I thoroughly shampoo and condition my strands, I make sure all of the product is fully rinsed out before applying the hair mask. I apply a quarter-size amount of the Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask throughout my long hair, focusing mostly on the mid-lengths to ends. I go about the rest of my shower routine while I let the mask work its magic—which typically takes about five minutes or so. Then, I rinse the product from my hair and step out of the shower.
Whether you’re dealing with major brass or simply looking to amp up your cool-toned blonde, I fully recommend adding Redken Color Extend Blondage Express Anti-Brass Mask to your shopping cart. On the list of everything I love about purple-tinted hair products, this one checks off all the boxes.
