Wondering how to replicate Ella Balinska's hair from the pink carpet? Her stylist explains how.
Stassi Schroeder’s addictive book, “Next Level Basic" has us wondering: Is basic hair a bad thing? We investigate.
Mila Kunis is no stranger to taking risks when it comes to her acting career, but when it comes to her red carpet style there are a few things we can be certain of: Her makeup will be flawless, her outfit will look stunning, and her long dark brown hair will look as captivating as ever.
Kunis is not known to take risks with her beauty looks, which is what made her red carpet appearance at the MTV Movie and TV Awards so shocking. Her makeup was flawless, her outfit was stunning, but her long dark brown hair was no longer! Instead, the actress debuted a striking asymmetrical bob styled in loose, natural-looking waves.
If you were just as obsessed with her look as we were, you’re in luck! We got the chance to speak to Renato Campora, Matrix brand ambassador and Kunis’s stylist for the night. He spilled all of the details about how he pulled off this look.
“I wanted to give Mila the perfect sleek and modern hairstyle for the MTV Movie and TV Awards. To start the look, I gave Mila a fresh, asymmetrical trim. This is a great cut to lighten any hair for summer. I used a razor to cut to the bottom, which really helped take the weight out and make the ends lighter,” he explained.
Hoping to recreate Kunis’ striking style? Just follow these simple steps.
While you can recreate Kunis’ waves on just about any hair type and length, you’ll have to get an asymmetrical bob if you want to really channel the movie star’s stunning red carpet style. While a bob seems like a low maintenance cut, when you go the asymmetrical route it requires a bit more maintenance. Your stylist will help you determine the perfect cutting schedule to ensure your cut looks it’s best for months to come.
Begin with freshly washed, slightly damp hair. Create a part on the left or right side of your head and apply Biolage Styling Texture Sap throughout your locks. To highlight some of your natural texture, Campora suggests blow drying your mane with a diffuser and wide tooth comb.
Once your hair is dry, use a large-barreled curling iron to create subtle waves throughout the hair. To create a natural looking wave, Campora recommends separating your hair into large sections and curling the hair under from right to left. Use a wide tooth comb to comb out the waves. Then, emulsify a small amount of Biolage Styling Curl Defining Elixir in your hands and work it throughout your hair to give your look an extra sleek and shiny finish. Campora says the gel is a great way to define the hair and give it a modern look.
Once the style is complete, set the look with Biolage Styling Complete Control Hairspray.
