When you’re getting ready for work, your hair is often the last thing on your mind. It’s easy to throw your hair in a quick bun or ponytail and head out of the door. As much as we love simple hairstyles, we think you should be able to have a little bit of fun with your office hairstyles.

Half up and braided styles are so on-trend right now, why not combine them for 10 absolutely flawless styles? We’ve rounded up 10 braided half ponytail hairstyles that are bound to turn heads when you head to work tomorrow.

Half Up Double Dutch Braids

Part your hair down the middle to the crown of your head. Working with one section at a time, create two Dutch braids on both sides of your part. Secure each completed braid with a clear hair elastic. Use Redken’s Curvaceous Curl Refiner to give the rest of your hair definition.

If you want to add a little glamour to your ‘do, we suggest adding metallic hair rings throughout your braids.

Half Up Triple Cornrows And Bun

Part the hair horizontally from one ear, over the crown of your head, to the other ear. Braid or flat twist the front section of hair back in the direction of a high pony. Then, create medium flat twists with the remaining hair from the back of your head. Set the hair under a hooded dryer. Release the flat twists from the back section and fluff them. Then, pull the twisted front section into a ponytail and secure with bobby pins. Release only the ends and fluff to build volume.

Half Up Cornrow Top Knot

Section off a mohawk to create your braided top knot. Section the hair into three smaller segments and create three cornrows. Secure the cornrows at the crown of your head and use the remaining hair to create a voluminous top knot. Protect your hair from the elements and set your look with Redken’s Forceful 23 Super Strength Anti-Frizz Hairspray.

Half Up Double Fishtail Braids

Begin by parting your hair down the middle to the crown of your head. Working with one section at a time, create two fishtail braids on both sides of your part. To create the fishtail effect, take a half-inch section of hair from the outside of left ponytail and cross to the right ponytail. Repeat the process on the opposite side, taking a segment from the outside of the right ponytail over to the left. Secure each completed braid with a clear hair elastic and pancake the braid for a full final look. Give your look some extra shine with Redken’s Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist.

Half Up Braided Bun And Braid

To start, gather the top half of your hair in a ponytail and secure it with a hair elastic. Create a classic three-strand braid with the hair from the ponytail. Then, wrap the braid around itself to form a bun and secure the bun to the back of your head with several bobby pins. Next, take a small section of hair right underneath the braided bun and create another classic three-strand braid. Secure the second braid with a clear hair elastic.

Half Up Wrapped Braids

To begin, part your hair down the middle to the crown of your head. Take a medium-sized segment of hair from both sides of your part and create two classic three-strand braids. Secure each completed braid with a clear elastic. Then, take one braid and wrap it around the back of your head. Use several bobby pins to secure the braid to the back of your head. Repeat the same steps with the opposite braid. Once you’ve wrapped both braids around the back of your head, tuck the ends of the braids into your hair for a seamless final look. Use Redken’s Powder Grip 03 Mattifying Hair Powder to give the rest of your hair tons of volume and texture.

Half Up Rope Braid To Three-Strand Braid

Begin by parting your hair down the middle to the crown of your head. Then, take a medium-sized section of hair from near your hairline and create a two-strand rope braid. Create another two-strand rope braid with a medium-sized section of hair on the opposite side of your part. Bring both rope braids to meet at the back of your head. Then, use the rope braids to create a classic three-strand braid. Once you complete the braid, secure it with a clear hair elastic.

Half Up Fishtail Braid

To begin, gather the top half of your hair in a ponytail and secure it with a clear hair elastic. Next, divide the ponytail tail into two equal ponytails. To create the fishtail effect, take a half-inch section of hair from the outside of left ponytail and cross to the right. Repeat the process on the opposite side, taking a section from the outside of the right ponytail over to the left.

Continue sections of the hair over until you reach the end of the braid and secure the end of the braid with an elastic. Once you've completed the braid, remove the elastic from the top to give the braid a seamless look. For a final touch, pancake the braid for a voluminous effect.

Half Up Braid Ponytail

To begin, simply gather the top half of your hair in a ponytail and secure it with a hair elastic. Then, section off the ponytail into three sections and create a classic three-strand braid. If you want to give your braided ponytail a little extra flare, weave a colorful ribbon through your braid. Once you complete your braid, secure it with a hair elastic.

Half Up Braided Bun

To create this look, you’ll want to follow the same steps as you would to create a half up braid ponytail. Once you have a complete and secured braided ponytail, wrap the braid around itself to form a bun. Use several bobby pins to secure the bun in place, and you’re ready to go!
