If you’ve ever spent money on a professional blowout, you understand that sometimes it takes extreme measures to preserve the style. Guarding it from moisture, frizz, and the dreaded hair elastic creases can become an all-encompassing obsession. A girl has to make sure she looks good, right?
When it comes to exercising at the gym, toned muscles don’t have to come at the cost of your beautiful dirty blonde hair. We teamed up with Madison Sullivan, L’Oréal Professional artist, to created a blowout-safe bun that anyone can wear, regardless of hair length. With the aid of a no-crease elastic, a scrunchie, and a can of L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Next Day Hair, your budding yoga habit won’t get in the way of your beauty routine.

Ponytail first.
Like all the best styles, this one starts with a ponytail to ensure you’re anchoring your updo in place. To begin, place a headband around your neck and comb your hair straight back into a ponytail. Secure the ponytail at the crown of your head with a hair elastic.
Hold onto your headband.
The next step is simple. Just place your headband around your hairline. This helps minimize the chances of the small pieces around your hairline escaping from the bun, and also absorbs excess moisture as you work up a sweat.
Get voluminous.
Spray your ponytail with Tecni.Art Next Day Hair and gently backcomb your ponytail to create volume.
Bun it up.
Wrap your ponytail around itself to form a bun and use several bobby pins to secure the bun in place. Then, wrap a scrunchie around the base of your bun to ensure it doesn’t budge during your workout. Don’t worry if a few strands come loose—you can fix them after your workout.
After you kick butt in the gym, remove the scrunchie, bobby pins, and headband. Run a comb through your hair to remove any snarls before you begin styling. Take a round brush and blow dry your damp edges. Once your edges are done, blow dry the rest of your strands until all of your hair is dry.
Shake L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Super Dust on your roots to give your blowout volume. For a final touch, spray your hair with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Infinium 4 Strong Hold Finishing Spray to lock your style in place.
