I’ll be the first to say it: I’m in over my head with this whole hair color thing. After a lifetime of mostly leaving my dark brown hair to do whatever it wants, I tried highlights...and while they’re really stunning, I’ve been surprised at how dry my ends feel. On day one, I can heat style them into a sleek finish, but if I go without shampoo, they basically look like scraggly witch claws after a couple of days.
After hearing that the Absolut Repair Masque was getting raves from those who’d tried it, I dutifully dolloped a couple spoonfuls into a travel container and took it home to try. It was love at first feel for me—seriously! The slip and silky feel of this mask combined with the fresh, floral scent was incredibly relaxing and spalike. I didn’t notice a dramatic visual difference in my hair after my first use, but did feel the added softness.
Fast forward several weeks, and I’ve been using the hair mask every weekend to give my hair a little extra love. I think my results have happened over time, because my lightened brunette ends don’t cry out for moisture in quite the way they used to. That’s a win in my book!

Of all of the hair products that litter my bathroom, hair masks are my absolute favorite—so much so that I’ve all but given up on regular conditioner and rely on an assortment of deep conditioning treatments to moisturize my strands. I’ll be honest, it doesn’t take much to convince me to try a new hair mask...but whether or not that mask becomes a regular in my hair care routine depends on how it works with my frizzy, fine curls—and the L’Oréal Professionnel Absolut Repair Masque passed that test with flying colors!
When I first heard the entire Hair.com team would be reviewing the same hair mask, I was skeptical. We all have completely different heads of hair, so I thought there was no way it could work on all three of our manes. When I first opened the gold jar I was immediately intrigued—there were literal gold flecks in the mask! It was so sparkly, I briefly considered using it on my face as a highlighter but decided to leave the fun to my strands.
After washing and rinsing out my hair, I applied the Absolut Repair Masque all over my head, focusing on my mid-lengths and ends because those are the most damaged parts of my strands. I immediately noticed how much slip the mask has. After just a few minutes, my strands felt silky and detangling was a breeze! After allowing the mask to remain in my hair for a few minutes and detangling my entire mane, I rinsed the mask out and was very impressed by how soft to the touch my strands felt. My softened strands made it incredibly easy to apply my styling products throughout my mane. While I loved the way the golden flecks looked in the jar, I was pleased to see that all of the shimmer easily rinsed out of my hair.
I am pleased to say that my strands continue to look and feel softer and smoother each time I use it. L’Oréal Professionnel’s Absolut Repair Mask has absolutely earned a permanent spot in my deep conditioning mask arsenal!

If I’m being honest, I was never a huge hair mask girl. I typically only used them when my strands were feeling particularly dry or if I had a spare 10 minutes to dedicate to my mane. Over the past few months, however, I’ve become obsessed with trying every hair mask I can get my hands on—the latest being L’Oréal Professionnel’s Absolut Repair Masque.
A bit of background on my hair: I have fine, color-treated hair that I bleach pretty often, so you can say my strands need as much moisture as they can get. After taking the L’Oréal Professionnel Absolut Repair Mask home from the office, I was intrigued to put it to the test.
After shampooing and thoroughly rinsing my hair, I applied the Absolut Repair Mask throughout my hair from the mid-lengths to ends. I completed the rest of my shower routine, allowing the mask to soak into my strands, and rinsed the mask from my hair after about five minutes. After running my fingers through my hair, I could immediately tell that it was detangling easier and felt softer than it has in months.
After a week or so of testing the Absolut Repair Mask, I can honestly say that it’s earned a permanent spot in my hair care routine—not to mention, the sparkly gold jar makes the perfect addition to my beauty counter!
