No matter the season, I deal with dry hair, so I’m always hunting for formulas designed to give my strands a splash of hydration. There’s just one problem: I also have fine hair (though there is a lot of it, and it’s long), which means some moisturizing hair products tend to weigh my hair down and leave my roots feeling greasy versus bouncy, clean, and well-nourished. Enter: the Redken All Soft range of ultra-hydrating formulas, including the new All Soft Moisture Restore Leave-in Treatment (which, spoiler alert, is truly the best leave-in treatment for softer hair, in my expert opinion).
This range of nourishing hair products provides strands with moisture while remaining lightweight, so those of us with fine hair can reap the benefits too. With a system of products seemingly created just for my hair type, I was excited to take the Redken All Soft Moisture Restore Leave-in Treatment (as well as the shampoo and conditioner) out for a test drive. Keep reading for my thoughts on some of the hero products in my Redken All Soft review below.
What Is Redken All Soft?
The Redken All Soft collection is a range of products designed to replenish moisture with its lightweight and nourishing formula, enhanced by argan oil. The nutty oil is a favorite amongst haircare enthusiasts and professionals alike because it can help replenish dry, brittle, and damaged strands with a boost of moisture. Plus, Redken’s newest addition to the All Soft family hops on the skinification of hair care trend.
“Redken’s All Soft line has been loved by consumers for years,” says Dr. Kiran Mian, a board-certified dermatologist practicing medical and aesthetic dermatology in NYC. “Redken perfected the formula and is excited to launch the new All Soft Moisture Restore Leave-In with hyaluronic acid. It’s a new, innovative addition to the beloved All Soft line and is perfect for consumers looking for added hydration.”
Use in tandem with the shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask for optimal results. Now, here’s the complete 411 on all the products in this hydrating haircare collection.

What Type Of Hair Is Redken All Soft Good For?
The Redken All Soft line was designed with dry hair types in mind. The products are also great if your hair is on the finer side of the spectrum because while they can deeply nourish and hydrate strands, they’re also lightweight and don't weigh the hair down.
Does Redken All Soft Have Sulfates?
The Redken All Soft Shampoo does contain sulfates. However, sulfates aren’t necessarily a bad thing. Sulfates are generally considered safe to use on hair and are beneficial in shampoo since they help work up a strong lather that can give a more effective-feeling clean, which I found true of the Redken All Soft Shampoo formula.
How I Used Redken All Soft In My Hair Care Routine
I am constantly on a quest for hair products that will replenish my strands with moisture. As someone who lives in the desert dry climate of Los Angeles and has naturally dry hair, my hair tends to feel dry and a bit more on the brittle side of the spectrum—moisturizing oils and creams are my go-to when styling. I was instantly intrigued by the Redken All Soft lineup as it includes argan oil which my hair needs to feel softer, smoother, and healthier. I was gifted the Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner along with the Redken All Soft Leave-in just in time for blowout season.
I applied the shampoo to semi-clean strands as I was only on day-two hair and was surprised by how much it still lifted away—my scalp and roots felt so much lighter and cleaner after just a few scrubs. Something I really liked about the shampoo was how sudsy it got when lathering into my roots. I found that this effect made it easier to spread the formula around my scalp's crown, sides, and base, something I typically have a harder time doing. I felt like I was able to get to places I usually might miss.
After rinsing, it was time to move on to the conditioner, which is how I really judge a product line. One thing that stood out instantly about the Redken All Soft Conditioner was how thick it is (think: body butter, but for your hair). This might not be great for those who have less dry hair types, but it’s necessary for my strands to saturate in a thick, mask-like conditioning formula. Despite its thick consistency, it was easy to spread all over my ends. After letting my hair soak for a few minutes, I rinsed and twisted my strands into a towel.
Once towel-dried, I reached for the Redken All Soft Moisture Restore Leave-in Treatment and applied a little more than a dime-sized amount to my fingertips before running it through my long hair. I was a little nervous to try this leave-in product, as I wasn’t sure if it would make my hair greasy or feel weighed down. But I was pleasantly surprised at how lightweight the formula is—it’s much thinner than the conditioner—and how easily it spread evenly throughout my strands. Although my hair was still slightly damp, I could feel that it was well-nourished, soft, and probably going to have an amazing shine once blown out (Spoiler: It did!).
I reached for my blow dryer to get some of the excess moisture out before going in with a round brush to style it into place. When drying my hair, I noticed that my ends—typically the first to dry, even before blow drying—were still fairly damp, indicating just how moisturized my hair was. I didn’t mind the extra dry time since I could tell my hair was drying in a smoother, less frizzy formation. Once my hair fully dried, my biggest concern was my bangs. I recently cut some fresh fringe across my forehead, and as a bangs newbie, I’ve been nervous about applying product to them for fear they get too greasy, heavy, or piecey. The Redken All Soft Moisture Restore Leave-In Treatment had the opposite effect, though, and made my bangs easier to style with a lot less frizz.
Overall, I was impressed with this hair care system. My hair desperately needs hydration, but moisturizing formulas often weigh it down due to the fine texture of my strands. I found that the Redken All Soft shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment provided a significant boost of replenishment that uplifted my hair and gave it the touch of volume it needed to elevate my at-home blowout.
