If you’re anywhere near as obsessed with hair as we are here at Hair.com, chances are good you’re totally obsessed with everything beauty. From hair care to skin care to makeup—there’s absolutely no product that you won’t try. Which is why your weekly spa days—err, self-care Sundays—are filled with multi-step routines from head to toe.
As much as we pamper ourselves, however, we’re still lazy girls at heart. The only thing that can convince us to buy a product more than seeing a killer before-and-after picture is knowing that it’s super easy to use. Which is why we’re completely obsessed with hair sheet masks.
Inspired by everyone’s favorite Korean beauty product, hair sheets masks are literally like face sheet masks—for your hair! Sheet masks aren’t just a trend that someone stumbled upon. They were created to replace traditional face masks that are often messy, hard to travel with and, if we're honest, terrible for selfies. Face sheet masks and hair sheet masks, on the other hand, are easy to use, largely mess-free, perfect for your carry-on, and make for some killer social media content.
Each sheet mask (which are sometimes called “conditioning caps” or “mask caps”) comes prepared with the perfect amount of hair treatment in a convenient and disposable cap. Much like the face sheet masks that took the beauty industry by storm, hair sheet masks can address a whole host of issues. There are sheet masks designed to help moisturize your locks, combat frizz, preserve your color, repair your strands, and to impart shine.
While a hair sheet mask probably doesn’t have any more hair beautifying benefits than a traditional one, they’re perfect for when you don’t have time for a full spa day. Wear a hair sheet mask while you clean your house, without worrying about dripping product all over your clean floors. Bring a hair sheet mask on vacation to restore your parched strands after a long day at the beach. Wear a hair sheet mask during your self-care Sunday ritual, and you can tend to the rest of your body knowing your hair is cared for.
One of our favorite hair sheet masks is the Redken All Soft Mega Recovery Tissue Mask Cap. Formulated for severely dry and coarse hair, the mask cap is infused with a superfood nutri-complex of cactus extract, aloe vera and sacha inchi oil to provide intense moisture and manageability while smoothing the cuticle. Just like your go-to hair masks, you only need to use this sheet mask once a week to reap all of the nourishing benefits.
Not sure how to use a hair sheet mask? Follow these simple steps:
Begin by washing your hair in the shower. We recommend using Redken’s All Soft Mega Shampoo. After you’ve rinsed the shampoo out of your strands, twist your locks into a loose top knot on the top of your head. While remaining in the shower, place and secure the sheet mask on top of your head. Leave the mask on for five to 10 minutes, allowing the heat and steam from the shower to help the treatment penetrate your strands. Remove the mask and rinse out the treatment before following with your favorite leave-in conditioner. We recommend Redken’s All Soft Mega Hydramelt Leave-In Treatment.
Just like that, you’re a masking professional.
