With Halloween around the corner, getting invited to costume parties every weekend can get hectic. Instead of going as a cat for the third year in a row, we have a look that requires just as little effort and is equally fun. This year, try recreating judge hair. That’s right—your favorite sassy Supreme Court justice is the perfect inspiration for an easy Halloween look. Plus, who doesn’t want to dress up as a powerful and influential woman? We’re all about quick and easy costume ideas and that’s why we got together with Jackie Litscher, Redken artist, to help us create the perfect judicial style.

Here’s What You Need:
To put it simply, judge hair is a chignon with an extra twist. We love this look because you probably already have everything you’ll need in your bathroom cabinet. First things first, gather all the hair scrunchies and bobby pins you can find. You’ll also need your blow dryer, hairbrush, hair mousse, and a dry shampoo paste. Epperson recommends using Redken’s Dry Shampoo Paste 05 and their Guts 10 Volumizing Spray Mousse.Prep Your Hair
For this look, it doesn’t matter if you washed your hair this morning or if you’re going on day three using dry shampoo. Whatever you’re working with, however, you’ll need to dampen your hair with water before you start piecing everything together. Once your hair is hydrated, apply a quarter-sized amount of hair mousse from your roots to the ends, to give your mane extra texture and hold.Get The Perfect Pony
Now that your hair is all prepped and ready, it’s time to start your transformation. Use your blow dryer to dry your hair away from your face to eliminate frizz and create optimal shine. Then, create a low ponytail using a string with bobby pins on either side or an elastic. After it’s secured, use a brush vertically to smooth the hair back without creating any lines.Create Your Bun
You’ll want to add Redken Dry Shampoo Paste 05 throughout your ponytail to absorb any oil from the hair while adding texture for a workable hold. Once you’ve added the dry shampoo paste, divide your ponytail into two equal sections. Then, working with one section at a time, twist each piece around itself and wrap it around the base of the ponytail to create a bun.The Final Touches
Before you head out, make sure you use bobby pins to keep your bun in place all night long. Finally, spray Redken Fashion Work 12 hairspray all over your hair to tame any flyaways.
Now that you look like you mean business, accessorize your costume with glasses or jewelry to make it your own.
