Whether you have dark brown hair or ash blonde, you’re going to want to remember these styles for the new year.

Low Ponytail

Use a boar bristle brush to remove any knots from your hair. Pull all of your hair to the nape of your neck and secure it with a clear hair elastic. If you want to amp up your low ponytail a bit, swap out your hair elastic for a scrunchie. Half-Up Fishtail Braid

No hairstyle reminds us of carefree beach days quite like a fishtail braid. This half-up fishtail braid should definitely be on your list of summer looks.

Half-Up Knot

Section off the top half of your hair and pull it towards the back of your head. Use a clear hair elastic to tie the section into a ponytail. Coil the hair from your ponytail around the base of the elastic to create a knot and wrap a velvet scrunchie around it. Complete the look with hairspray.

Braided Fishtail Bun

Pull all of your hair to one side of your head and begin creating a fishtail braid. Divide the hair into two even sections and separate a half-inch piece of hair from the outside of the left section. Take the half-inch piece of hair and cross it over to the right section. Then, grab another half-inch piece of hair from the outside of the right section and cross it over to the left. Repeat these steps, alternating sections, until you reach your ends. Secure the braid with a clear hair elastic.

Pancake your braid and wrap it to create a low bun at the nape of your neck. Use bobby pins to hold the bun in place and lock it in with hairspray.

Brushed-Out Waves

Dutch Pigtails

Begin with detangled hair and part your mane down the middle to create two even sections. Working with one section at a time, create three even segments of hair—left, middle, and right.

Cross the section farthest to the right under the middle, then do the same with the section farthest to the left. Continue repeating these steps, adding more hair each time you cross a section, until you reach your ends. Use a clear hair elastic to hold the braid in place. Repeat these steps with the remaining section.
