How The Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo And Conditioner Revived My Dry Hair

Wondering if Biolage Hydrasource is right for your mane? Read on for my full Biolage Hydrasource review for dry hair.

As a thirty-something who’s been coloring her hair blonde since middle school, I’m always on the lookout for hair products that can add moisture back into my dry locks. Nearly every single hair professional I’ve seen over the last decade or so has told me that over-processing is one of the quickest ways to wind up with dry, brittle, and easily broken strands. They encouraged me to be cautious about the quality and ingredients list of any hair care product I choose.

Another fun fact about my hair: It’s super thick—like layers and layers thick—so I have to be wary about using hair care products that are too heavy and weigh down my hair to the point that it’s difficult to style. So when I’m on the hunt for new formulas, I have to look out for something that’s hydrating and nourishing, yet lightweight enough to use every day. That’s why, when I heard about the Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo and Conditioner system, I jumped at the chance to try it. Read on for everything you need to know about the hydrating system for dry hair and how it worked in my hair routine.

What Is Biolage Hydrasource?

Biolage Hydrasource is a naturally-derived hair care line made to improve the look and feel of dry strands. These hydrating care formulas balance moisture levels in parched hair, leaving it softer, more manageable, and healthier-looking. From shampoo and conditioner to hydrating styling products, those with dry hair can upgrade their entire routine with these hydrating formulas.

The shampoo and conditioner from the Biolage Hydrasource line is designed for everyday use, which means it won’t weigh your hair down the way a heavy hair mask that’s meant to be used once or twice a week can. Its secret to achieving this lightweightness is in its nature-inspired ingredient list. It is formulated with aloe leaf juice, which soothes and conditions the hair and scalp, cupuacu butter to help smooth and rejuvenate dry strands, and apricot kernel, which contains the omega 9-rich oleic acid to not only fight moisture loss, but also stimulate hair growth. It’s also free of parabens, or preservatives, that are not only potentially harmful to your body, but don’t do your hair any favors either.

How I Used Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo And Conditioner In My Routine

Knowing off the bat that this was a shampoo and conditioner system that my hair could tolerate for everyday (or every other day) use, I replaced my old shampoo and conditioner with these formulas immediately. Upon my first wash, I instantly noticed how nourishing and hydrating the Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo felt in my hair—and I was surprised by how little I needed to cover my entire head of hair (remember, I have a lot of hair). It lathered quickly and left my hair feeling soft and tangle-free once I washed it out. I was surprised that, for once in my life, I didn’t even feel like my hair needed conditioner.

To make sure I was following the system to a T, I applied the Biolage Hydrasource Conditioner from the mid-lengths to ends of my mane once the shampoo was fully rinsed out. This is where I noticed the most improvement in the feel of my hair. With half the amount of conditioner I would normally use with any other conditioner, I was able to cover my entire head of hair fully.

I left it on for a few minutes while I washed the rest of my body and shaved my legs so that it would saturate as much as possible (although the directions don’t call for this). Upon rinsing the conditioner out, I loved how soft and manageable it felt.

The biggest impact I noticed after using this shampoo and conditioner for a full week was while brushing through my wet hair, there was hardly a tangle in sight. The brush slipped right through my strands as if I had put a leave-in conditioner and a detangler in as well—but it was all due to the Hydrasource Shampoo and Conditioner.

Blow drying wasn’t only easy, since the brush continued to slip right through my hair, but it also left me with a super silky, frizz-free blowout that took to the rest of my heat-styling routine easily.

All in all, I was thoroughly impressed not only by the way the Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo and Conditioner set left my hair, but also by how long it lasted thanks to the fact that I only needed a small dollop to achieve desired results. I will definitely continue to use this shampoo and conditioner and plan to spread the word to all my friends—especially those who color their hair on the regular!
