With the exception of an unfortunate ‘90s sitcom inspired chin length bob, I have always had (and loved having) long hair. As I’ve grown older, though, I noticed my hair growth just doesn’t happen like it used to. Instead of naturally having longer hair and thicker hair, I began to face breakage, postpartum hair loss, and sparse baby hairs around my crown. The struggle is real.
While some new moms opt for the “mom cut” and ditch their length or add layers for something a bit easier to manage, I’ve been determined to keep my hair length for as long as possible.
Enter: the L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Longer treatment system. Keep scrolling for my Pro Longer review and everything you want to know about the collection.
What Does L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Longer Do?
The L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Longer collection is a range of products for longer, thicker hair. It’s a complete, professional hair care system that includes five products powered by a patented, exclusive thickening technology, Filler-A100 + Amino Acid.
The Filler-A100 molecule penetrates the fiber core and thickens your hair, while immediately conditioning and resurfacing hair fiber. Simultaneously, the amino acid component strengthens and renews your hair’s length. The brand gifted me the collection which I’ve been using for over a month as part of my Pro Longer review, and can honestly say I’ve fallen in love.
L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Pro Longer Shampoo
The Serie Expert Pro Longer Shampoo is the perfect shampoo for people (like me) who struggle with splitting or thinned ends thanks to its patented, thickening technology. Amino acids in the formula strengthens and renews length making this product an essential first step in your Pro Longer treatment. Tests have shown the shampoo reduces breakage by ninety four percent, reduces split ends by seventeen percent, and delivers five times more shine to the hair.
L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Pro Longer Conditioner
Serie Expert Pro Longer Conditioner is the second step in the Pro Longer treatment. After using Serie Expert Pro Longer Shampoo, the conditioner is applied and left in for about one to three minutes as it gets to work. This hydrating conditioner has been shown to reduce the appearance of split ends by twenty percent, while adding sixty four percent more volume to your hair. And just like the shampoo, it also contains Filler A-100 + Amino Acid to thicken and resurface the hair fiber while strengthening and renewing hair length.
L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Pro Longer Leave-In Cream
I love a good leave-in treatment, and Serie Expert Pro Longer Leave-In Cream is no exception. In fact, it quickly became my new favorite. It’s a multi-tasking, 10-in-1 formula specifically made for long hair that also protects your hair from up to 450 degree heat. Think of it as filling and plumping your hair from the inside, while also protecting it on the outside. (It also leaves your hair smelling really, really good!)
L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Pro Longer Masque
A dream come true for long hair struggling with breakage, Serie Expert Pro Longer Masque is a thick, indulgent hair masque that packs serious restorative power. When used in conjunction with the Pro Longer Shampoo (versus unwashed hair), the masque reduces the appearance of split ends by thirty one percent. Like all the Pro Longer products in the collection, it also features Filler A-100 + Amino Acid to—you guessed it—strengthen and renew your hair, resurfacing and thickening the hair fiber.
L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Pro Longer Ends Filler Concentrate
The Serie Expert Pro Longer Ends Filler Concentrate which is usually an exclusive in-salon treatment (that’s then maximized at home with the rest of the range) is now available for the first time ever at-home. It’s used once a week in place of the Serie Expert Pro Conditioner or Masque. It’s a single-dose treatment that fills hair ends beginning with the first application. When used with Pro Longer Shampoo and Pro Longer Mask, the concentrate reduces the appearance of split ends by sixty six percent, adding fifty percent more volume to your hair. The results of this treatment are long lasting, and build over time.
Who Can Benefit From The Pro Longer Line?
Those who wish for longer, stronger-looking hair are the perfect candidates for the Pro Longer line. It’s designed specifically for those who struggle with breakage or thinning at the ends.
How Do You Use L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Longer?
When I began using the treatment series, I cleared every other hair product out of my shower and started fresh with Pro Longer (with the exception being the concentrate filler since I wanted to wait to get the in-salon experience).
Whenever my hair needs a wash, I start with Serie Expert Pro Longer shampoo, and apply it twice—first to cleanse and then a second time to treat. I lather it up nicely and rinse well, then repeat.
I wash my hair three times a week, but only two of those times I shampoo, following up with the Serie Expert Pro Longer Conditioner (the third day is strictly a conditioning day). I towel dry my hair, then apply the conditioner, starting at my ends and working my way up. I comb through (gently!) and then rinse. Once a week, I substitute using the conditioner for Pro Longer Lengths Renewing Masque. I apply about a quarter size of the product evenly throughout my towel-dried hair and let it sink in for about five minutes, sometimes longer if I feel my hair needs some extra TLC. Then, rinse!
Finally, I end every wash day with the leave-in Pro Longer Renewing Cream for Lengths & Ends. Once my hair is towel dried, I let a nickel-sized amount warm up in the palm of my hands and apply it throughout my strands, focusing on my ends. Then, I usually blow dry my hair (or let it air dry) and enjoy my softer, thicker hair that, might I add, smells amazing!
My L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Longer Review
I started out trying the L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Longer collection with the goal of committing to a solid hair care routine, and hoping for results. Not only did I immediately notice my hair feeling thicker when blown out and in a ponytail, but I also fell in love with each product and how they made my hair look, feel, and smell.
In about two or three weeks, I also noticed my hair had less of a tapered look when viewing it from the back. It felt smoother, plumper, and silkier, too.
When I learned I’d be trying out a “system,” I was a little worried I’d start out strong and then fizzle out regarding consistency, but I didn’t! It’s so easy to use the products in order, the way they are intended, since I kept them all together in the shower, within an arm’s reach. I’ve converted to using this system for the long haul (pardon the pun), and I have a feeling that anyone with long hair who tries this out will, too.
