Acclaimed hairstylists spend hours behind the chair perfecting their craft—and in the hair world, the North American Hairstylist Awards are equivalent to some of the most prestigious Hollywood award shows. The NAHA Awards highlight some of the most talented artists in the industry, and this year, all eyes were on Matrix and Biolage.
Coming off the heels of the brand’s annual Matrix Destination 2020 convention, the Matrix artistic team headed to the West Coast for the 31st annual award ceremony on January 25, where 11 of our favorite Matrix artistic educators and directors scored 15 nominations across nine categories. This is a proud moment for Matrix and Biolage, who have collectively reached over 100 NAHA nominations and 22 wins. Styling And Finishing - Michelle O’Connor, Matrix Artistic Director

Hair Color - Chrystofer Benson, Matrix Artistic Director
Benson is known for bringing his coloring talents to stages across the globe and at this year’s NAHA Awards, he won big in the hair color category. He’s also shared his expert advice with the Hair.com team on everything from the smoky hair color trend to pastel blue hair.
Avant Garde - Rodrigo Araneda, Matrix Canada Ambassador
Araneda took home the NAHA award for haircutting in 2018, but the Matrix Canada ambassador and salon owner came back in 2020 to conquer the Avant Garde category.
Team Of The Year - Michelle O’Connor And Dilek Onur-Taylor, Matrix Artistic Directors
O’Connor won her second award of the night—this time sharing the stage with fellow Matrix artistic director Dilk Onur-Taylor. The duo took home the coveted Team Of The Year award for their work at The Salon By InStyle. Onur-Taylor also recently shared her favorite hair products with Hair.com.
