Redken Brushable Hairspray Left My Next-Day Hair Free of Residue and Full of Body

Find out if Redken’s Brushable Hairspray ended one editor’s search for a flexible, non-stiff formula to keep her blowout intact.

Hairspray has always been a staple on my hair shelf. I’ve always favored the strong hold kind that could keep my go-to pulled back hairstyles in place, but when it came to finding a hairspray that could do the same for my blowout, I hadn’t found ‘the one’. When I was gifted the Redken Brushable Hairspray 12, a fast-drying hairspray that offers 24-hour control and humidity resistance, I was hopeful the award-winning formula would be my blowout’s best friend.

Was the search for the best hairspray for my blowout finally over? Keep reading for my Redken Brushable Hairspray 12 review to see if the formula left my hair with the flexible, non-stiff feel I longed for.

Redken

Brushable Hairspray 12

A fast-drying hairspray that offers 24-hour control and humidity resistance for color-treated hair.

What is Redken Brushable Hairspray used for?

This anti-humidity hairspray promises to hold hair in place for 24 hours without residue or flaking. Flexi-hold polymers allow for a pliable, brushable hold, ideal for looks with more movement. It’s also enriched with vitamin C and vitamin E, and is vegan!

This styling spray is ideal for any hair type—whether you want a workable hold for curls and waves, or can be sprayed on ends after brushing to keep them in place without any crunch. And while many hairsprays can dry out strands—a big no-no if you have color-treated hair—this one is safe to use on dyed locks. (Formerly Fashion Work 12, this product is the same award-winning hairspray from Redken, but with a sleek, new look.)

How do I use Redken Brushable Hairspray?

Make sure your hair is dry and already styled before using Redken Brushable Hairspray 12. Hold the can six to twelve inches away and spray. You’re left with a flawless and brushable finish!

Redken Brushable Hairspray Review

My Redken Brushable Hairspray Review

The first thing I tell my stylist when I sit down in her chair for a blowout is, “volume please!” My fine strands get weighed down easily by product, so I ask that hairspray be used sparingly, if at all, when I get a blowout. I’m scared that the stylist will overdo it with one spray too many, and her hard work will look like a stiff mess on top of my head. This brings me to the Redken Brushable Hairspray 12, which lived up to its name when I used it after my last salon blowout.

I told my stylist to skip any finishing sprays after she blew out my hair and ran home to spritz this Redken best-selling hairspray. I focused on my ends since that’s where my stylist added some flips and waves for added body. Just four or five spritzes sufficed (I didn’t want to get too heavy-handed thinking about my past post-blowout traumas). My hair still felt bouncy afterward, but also like a crisp Fall breeze wouldn’t knock my fresh blowout entirely out of whack.

The real test was my next-day hair since my blowout rarely holds up on day two, especially after a hot shower. Its 24-hour humidity protection claim held true, and I could still run a brush through my hair without completely disrupting the flips and twists that my stylist added to the ends. Day two, my hair still looked good and intact with minimal styling—proof of this hairspray’s long-lasting powers. I just threw on a headband and was good to go. I’ve found that this is the best hairspray that doesn't leave residue behind, and I adore it for its fine mist and medium-hold formula. While I’m sure you can use this on updos, too, I’ll reserve Redken Brushable Hairspray 12 for my blowouts and give my max hold formulas a break.
