Do you share the struggle of having flat, dull hair on days you want to make an impact? It always seems to be the way for me, but I’ve recently learned that you can combat this situation by turning up the volume with the right products.
Generally, my hair is healthy, except for some dreaded split ends. And the straight, flat nature of my hair (besides the occasional frizz) can mean I need help achieving body. I usually look for hair products that add volume, are easy to use, and deliver maximal results. So, when the Biolage Full Density Spray Treatment was gifted to me for review, I couldn't wait to try it.
This product is a leave-in densifying spray infused with replenishing ingredients—such as vegan biotin—designed to make thinner hair appear thicker and shinier. Read on to learn how it works and how my flat hair and I got on.

How does Biolage Full Density work?
Let me explain what the Biolage Full Density Spray is and how it helps your hair appear and feel thicker. It's a pre-blow-dry spray treatment designed to densify your hair without weighing it down. It also helps to remove excess oil from your hair to help restore bounce.
The Biolage Full Density is formulated with Zinc PCA, Vegan Biotin, and Gluco-Omega to create a natural thickening technology. Each component has a specific property that helps give your hair that voluminous appearance—which I’ll take you through.
First up is zinc PCA, an ingredient that helps rebalance and purify the scalp. This helps to reduce hair loss and leave your mane feeling healthy and lush from root to tip. Next is vegan biotin, which helps strengthen the hair fibers and, in turn, prevents split ends and hair breakage. Finally, gluco-omega is a conditioning agent that helps promote hair growth and reduce hair loss. When combined, these ingredients help expand the diameter of existing strands. If your hair can sometimes look fine and feel brittle, Biolage can help to make your locks more plump, luscious, and full of volume.

How to Use Biolage Full Density Spray
The Biolage Full Density Spray couldn't be easier to use. You simply apply the spray to wet hair before blow drying. I recommend spraying generously from root to tip and brushing it through freshly-washed hair. To allow this product to work its magic, do not rinse—plus, when you see how good it smells, you won’t want to wash it out anyway. Next, blow dry and style your hair as you wish. Then, show your hair off to your friends or loved ones, as I bet they'll be jealous of how good it looks. (Note: You don't have to do this final step, but I certainly did!)

My Current Hair Routine
My hair is that odd mix of straight with the occasional wavy streak, so I often struggle to maintain volume. Despite my woes, my usual hair routine is embarrassingly basic. I run most days, meaning I probably wash my hair more than most. As a sweaty ponytail is only appropriate for nature trails, finish lines, and dance floors, I tend to use shampoo and conditioner and then let my hair dry naturally. If I'm heading into the office or out and about (and don't snooze my alarm too many times), I'll add a heat protectant spray and then blow dry and straighten my hair. Then, if I'm feeling particularly snazzy (and patient), I'll get my curling iron out to attempt thick curls and spritz with hairspray. Although, I've also been known to scrap that midway through and go for a low bun instead! A product that helps my hair to hold onto its fullness when left loose is just what my regimen was missing.

My Biolage Professional Full Density Spray Treatment Review
They say first impressions count, and our first encounter did not disappoint. The Biolage Full Density Spray Treatment smells UNREAL. Its natural fruity scents, combined with the familiar smell of hairspray, gave me full-on nostalgia for childhood ballet performances. So, we got off to a good start!
After washing my hair with my usual shampoo and conditioner, I generously spritzed the Biolage spray through my hair in sections, starting at the scalp. I then ran my hands through my hair a few times to massage the product deep into my roots. I accidentally washed it out the first time while on auto-pilot, so I had to do this step twice! My color-treated hair tends to get a little knotty, so I gave my hair a good brush after this too.
After brushing, my hair felt fresh, silky, and thicker than usual without being sticky. Next, I had an (optional) pause before blow drying. I'd just returned from a long run, so I chilled with a cup of tea, allowing my hair to air-dry a little. This meant that my blow-dry took less time, although you can absolutely go straight in for the blow-dry if you want. I blow-dried until my hair was around 80 percent dry and then began styling with a round-ended brush to create loose, natural-looking curls.
Over the next few weeks, I used this product multiple times to style my hair. From high ponytails to festival-ready double French braids, my hair kept its thick texture throughout, thanks to Biolage Full Density Spray Treatment.
I was really pleased with the results. My hair felt shiny and voluminous without that tacky feeling of too much product. I was also happy this spray gave my hair structure but didn’t feel heavy. One concern I often have with different styling products is that my hair can turn from glossy to greasy instantly. But I'm delighted that even after a long day in the city, my hair would keep its shape and shine without screaming for a wash.
And, although I said I have an incredibly low-maintenance hair-care plan, this product has already become part of my regular routine as I cannot get enough of how good it smells and how thick and bouncy my hair feels. Next time you think about what products to use for a blowout, I highly recommend seeing what Biolage has to offer.
