How To Style Old Hollywood Waves
Start small.
Beginning on the opposite side of your part, grab a section of hair from your hairline to your ear and divide it into two sections. Apply a few spritzes of the Pureology Style + Protect Soft Finish Hairspray throughout the section. Using a 1.25-inch curling iron, clamp the segment of hair at the base. Then, twist the curling iron until all of the hair is wrapped around it.Complete your first curl.
Hold the curling iron facing downward and gently release the curl into your hand. Don’t let the curl loose just yet! Release the curl into your hand to help it cool down, then use hair clips to pin it against your head to set.
Move to the back.
For this part, you’re going to need four even sections. Divide the hair at the back of your head straight down the middle. Then, pull the top half of each side forward to create two more segments. Curl the top sections first, using the same pin curl technique mentioned before.
Curl the two sections closest to the nape of your neck, continuing with the same technique.
Keep curling.
On the side your hair is parted to, comb all of the hair forward and apply a few more spritzes of the Pureology Style + Protect Soft Finish Hairspray. Take the section of hair closest to the front of your hairline and curl the segment back and away from your face. Pin the curl to your head to let it set.
Continue this curling technique as you style the remaining sections, pinning each curl to your head as you go.
Cool and set.
Once you’ve curled all of your hair, wait five to ten minutes before releasing your curls from the pins. This step will ensure that your ringlets last all night long.
Loosen your waves.
When your strands are completely cool, remove the clips and allow your curls to drop. Use a paddle brush to gently brush through the hair to soften the waves and tuck your hair behind your ear on the opposite side of your part.
Don’t skip the hairspray.
Last but not least, apply a few more spritzes of hairspray to lock your waves in place. Now, you’re ready to take on Valentine’s day with a vintage hairstyle that is sure to last!
